Most people have a big impact on others lives. In the book Call of the Wild Buck’s life was changed by a guy named John Thornton. John was a big part of the Buck being wild and how the story ended. Throughout the time Buck lives with John he is figuring out if he wants to be domestic or wild. Buck can’t choose the way he wants to live though. But in the end John helps by guiding Buck to the woods where he becomes wild. John Thornton relationship helped change Buck’s future. In the very beginning, but also throughout their relationship John helped Buck survive. Buck’s future changed when John took him to the woods. His future changed from death to living with a man who loved him. “ If you strike that dog again i’ll kill you.” John told Hal. John saved Bucks life because either Hal would have killed him or he would have died leading the sled.John had taken better care of Buck than any of Bucks other owners. John Thornton also saved his life by caring for him and that made Buck have the strength to be ready for the wild. When Thornton had first gotten Buck, Buck was in bad shape. Then after letting Buck rest and get healthy Buck was able to pull a thousand pounds of flours one hundred yards. Not only did Buck prove how strong he was but he won one-thousand six hundred dollars, which John used to pay debts and then pay to take Buck to the woods to find gold.
