9/11 is an important and depressing event that occurred on September 11, 2001 in New York City, Washington, D.C., and in Pennsylvania, when the Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda hijacked four airplanes and crashed them into different buildings in these states, other than in Pennsylvania when the passengers worked together to crash the plane into a field instead of the destined location. This terrorist attack changed all of Americans lives drastically during the early 2000’s.
Two planes were crashed into each of the World Trade Center building in New York City, leading to both buildings falling down, causing 2,763 people’s deaths, including civilians, law enforcement officers, firefighters, airplane passengers, and the hijackers. In Washington D.C., one plane crashed into the Pentagon, and 184 people lost their lives. In the crash into the field in Pennsylvania, 44 people lost their lives including four hijackers. The World Trade Center buildings were the tallest buildings in New York City, each one weighing more than 250,000 tons, and containing 99 elevators and 21,800 windows. The actions that took place on this day need to be taught and remembered so Americans know how to control it if something major happens again and what to be expecting. From this event, security has been advancing and Americans all over the world are aware of their surroundings and they know what damage anyone can have on our country. This day changed the view on life as an American, and people starting second guessing their safety. If this day isn’t taught over and over again, the next generations will forget it even happened and America can be in for another attack, if people stop considering their security and
