An astounding operation improving your intelligence, known as the Algernon- Gordon Effect. The operation was testing on Charlie Gordon and a mouse named Algernon. Charlie Gordon is thirty seven years old with and IQ of 68. He underwent the operation wanting to be smart, and those performing the surgery were Drs. Nemur and Strauss. The operation using artificial intelligence with your own intelligence had quickly wore off resulting in the experimented being dying. The doctors chose Charlie because he would do anything to be smart. Both doctors, with the operation had to make ethical decisions. Ethics are rules of behavior/standards, rights, religion, and law, based on ideas what is morally good or bad. In this case, Charlie Gordon's doctors did not act ethically when they performed the surgery to make him smarter.

In Flowers for Algernon, both doctor didn’t ask any questions before the procedure. It almost seemed from my point of view, they did not even care about Charlie or the outcome of the procedure. They were just benefitting themselves by experimenting. To me, that was very unsafe for Charlie and they had put his life on the line. In the end of the story, the mouse that been tested on named Algernon, had underwent the same operation and had been uncooperative and had passed away shortly after. Charlie now realizes that he will follow the same path as Algernon. The doctors had quickly passed this and didn’t seem to care for Charlie or benefit
