Coach Ken Carter was one of the greatest high school basketball coaches ever. In 1999, Coach started being the head basketball coach at Richmond High School. It was one of the poorest high schools in the state of California. Coach not only made his team excel in basketball, but in class also. Three top values coach stressed the importance were complacency, teamwork, and discipline. In the beginning, Coach Carter set the importance of not becoming complacent. First, he wanted the team to give 110% everyday. Second, when the team went to the party after getting first place at the tournament, Coach Carter was upset because the teams head was getting too big. Last, when they started celebrating during a game, he yelled at practice the very next day for all of that. First, Coach made Cruz run a fairly decent amount to get back on the team by a specific date, and Cruz came up short, so the team helped finish what Cruz could not. Next, he made the team work as a whole by letting them know how to trust one another. Last, the team gave 100% during practice and pushed one another because coach wanted a bond to be formed. In conclusion, teamwork teaches that becoming a whole will more than just trying to do it all yourself. By the end of the movie, Coach teaches the team discipline. First, Coach makes the team sign a contract agreeing to meet the requirements or each player will be kicked off the team. Next, Coach does not allow them to slack on their grades because Coach knows the importance of having a high school diploma. Last, Coach decides to shut down the gym until the team manages to bring the bad grades up. All in all, Coach teaches discipline because Coach wants them to have a better life and become
