Harriet Tubman is a woman of color who fought for what she believed was right. Her acts of saving slaves and fighting for equality for African Americans brings freedom for our present day. In 1850s, she traveled through the Underground Railroad to free herself, her family, and hundreds of slaves to bring them to the North for safety. After her journey, she learned the new world of freedom, never having the knowledge of escaping as she states, “I grew up like a neglected weed- ignorant of liberty, having no experience of it.” Throughout her life, Tubman troubled upon head injuries and abuse from slavery but, she didn't let that stop her from saving others and bringing equal rights for all.
