Henry Ford was one of the biggest industrialists in America who's idea led to the main idea behind Lean Manufacturing. In 1914 he used the idea of continuous flow, which is the production or manufacturing process with no interruptions, on his moving assembly line for his Model T automobile. He kept production extremely tight, so each stage of the process flowed together with every next stage. Ford's process didn’t leave a lot of room for change or flexibility.
