James Prescott Joule was born December 24, 1818 in Salford, England. Electricity had always fascinated him and his brothers. They experimented on each other, as well as others within the house with electric shocks. Due to his ample interest in science, he took it up as a serious hobby. He was tutored by John Dalton, however he learned most of his knowledge on his own. He mainly studied in electromagnetism and electricity. He achieved the most fame in scientific history for his early work and study. He took great pride in maintaining organized data and accurate measurements. His first major creation was an electromagnetic engine which he created when he was only nineteen years old. However, he was not very content with it. His creation was not
