PEARL HARBOR 11 American naval ships and 300 planes were turned to ash. The Japanese attacked American base Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 in Hawaii near Honolulu island. Pearl Harbor was attacked to show the US that the Japanese have power.

To begin with, a lot happened the day this attack happened, we lost a lot of soldiers. The barrage lasted around 2 hours. The Japanese managed to destroy 11 American Naval ships and around 300 planes (History.com Staff). According to History.com Saff, “ The attack on Pearl Harbor was a surprise, but Japan and the United States had been edging towards war for decades.” More than 2000 American soldiers killed this day (History.com Staff). It was a tough day for many families and friends.

However, this is why Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. Japan and America have been in a rival for a while now(Pearl Harbor/HistoryNet).Japan wanted to ban imposed by president Roosevelt on trade functions of Japan especially export of oil, steel, and scrap iron (History.com Staff). Japan was on there way to be the strongest army but America stood in there way (History.com Staff). Japan had no good reason to attack Pearl Harbor.
