John D. Rockefeller Biography

John D. Rockefeller is one of the richest men of all time, the Co founder of one of the most successful oil businesses of all time, and he is now one of the most famous business leaders of all time. I now have the privilege to write about someone who was once the face of the whole oil industry, and is one of the most famous people of all time. On July 8, 1839 baby John D. Rockefeller was born to his parents Eliza Davison And William Avery Rockefeller. The loving couple gave birth to him in Richford, New York. John D. He was a confidence Artist or in simpler terms a traveling salesman, William called himself a “Botanic Artist”. He sold elixirs to people from all around. His mother was a stay home mom, she stayed home rather than participate in a job because she had to take care of all the children to make sure the house didn't burn down. Eliza still struggled for livelihood Since William was always away from her and the family for long periods of time. Rockefeller was what could be described as a model child. He was a very hard worker, he rarely ever got in trouble with his mom or his siblings, and he put school work before everything. Rockefeller was sixteen years old he earned his first job as an assistant Bookkeeper. It was a small produce commission firm called “Hewitt and Tuttle” where they were commission merchants and produce shippers. His fellow employees and his boss were very impressed by his seriousness and his patience. With all the work he did for the small commission he was still paid very poorly, his total salary over three months was just fifty dollars which was fifty cents a day. But whatever he was paid, he would always give the money to local charities and his church. something else that his boss recognized was his ability to count and calculate costs was very superb, this would help rockefeller a lot later on in his life. In 1859 he left his current job as an assistant bookkeeper and went into the produce business with his partner Maurice b. Clark. Together they raised four thousand dollars in capital. from there John d. Rockefeller slowly steadily started to accel in his career, making good money in each year of his career. After working in the Produce Business for awhile, he and his partner Maurice built there first oil refinery in 1863. They built the oil refinery in “The Flats” which was currently the most industrious area in all of Cleveland. At the time the whale oil was becoming too expensive for many people, and cheap lightning fuel was in high demand by the masses.
