How Did John Proctor Change Throughout The Crucible

In the The Crucible written by Arthur Miller it talks about how in Salem, Massachusetts 1692. People were accusing each other of witchcraft and it lead to tens of people being hanged in front of the town. A group of girls goes dancing in the forest with a slave named Tituba. While dancing, they are caught by the local minister, Reverend Parris. A huge crowd has gathered at Parris home. While parris tries to calm down the crowd, John proctor decides to pull Abigail to talk to her. He tells her to forget everything about him and about the affair. After Parris and Hale interrogate Tituba for a brief time, Tituba confesses to being with the devil, and she accuses various townsfolk of being with the devil. Abigail joins her, Betty joins them in naming witches. Afterwards 13 people get hanged in total because of the witch trials in Salem. It drives Abigail to get revenge on Proctor after He tells her. “ Abby, I may think of you softly from time to time. But i will cut of my hand before I’ll ever reach for you again” (Miller 23) Abigail is now even more determined to get back together with John Proctor, She knows that she has to get rid of Elizabeth. This later leads to the event of Elizabeth being a witch and she casting a spell on Abigail. During the witch trial against Elizabeth, Proctor tells Danforth that “You are pulling heaven down and raising up a whore.”(Miller 120) He know he can't convince Danforth that the girls are lying.
