The Bill of Rights created in 1791 protects all the people of the United States's rights that the government cannot change or take away. It was formed due to many things and eventually became the first 10 amendments to the Constitution. When the government was first formed it was to weak under the Articles but when a stronger government was created people were afraid of it becoming too strong. This fear came from the origin of being under the rule of the King where he had all the power and could do whatever he wanted. This helped the government in deciding what to put into the Bill of Rights based on things the King had done or imposed that people believed a government should not be allowed to do. The seventh amendment gave trial by jury found in some of the state constitutions, the people wanted fairness even under accusation. The eighth amendment protected excessive fines and bail, and also from punishment that does not fit the crime. This began in the magna Carta with no extreme punishments and is also found in the Declaration of Rights and the Body of Liberties in the rights of criminals and having no excessive bail. King Charle also helped it by fining in large amount \s and giving punishments that did not fit the crime. The ninth amendment addresses the rights given to the people that weren’t in the Constitution. Its origin was in the people fearing to strong of a government, James Madison wanted the people to know that they had more rights than those just specifically stated. Finally the tenth amendment again originated in that fear and it helps to balance out the power between the government, states, and the people.
