Martin Luther King Jr. was an African American man who fought racism and segregation. As a black man he was looked down on and he wanted to change that. He knew that the world was wrong about black people. Lots of things he did helped him make a better future for black people. This is going to be about all he did to help them. It was in 1957 when the SCLC (The Southern Christian Leadership Conference) was founded. Martin was one of the ones to help found it. Martin, Ralph Abernathy, and 60 other ministers and civil rights activists were the ones to do it. The SCLC did many things to help stop segregation. Once Martin was even arrested for doing a sit in that the SCLC were helping with. Along with him 36 others there. His most famous speech that made him more popular now was his "I Have a Dream" speech. When he gave this speech he gained support and help from even more people. His speech inspired many black and white people to fight against segregation. That speech was one of the most influencing speeches he ever gave. This was a great thing to happen to Martin. It made him grow as an influence and he gained more and more support. Eventually this began to help him fight segregation and get closer and closer to his goal. Everything he was doing was helping him reach his goal of ending racism. Overall he had a huge impact on the worlds segregation and racism problems. Martin Luther King later died in 1968. He was killed by a man named James Earl Ray using a sniper rifle. It caused riots all across the U.S. in more than 100 cities. The next year his killer pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 99 year jail sentence and died in 1998 while still serving his sentence.
