Out of all they different African American Icons Martin Luther King Jr. was my favorite. He didn’t just want fair rights for African Americans he wanted equality for everyone. Instead of doing what must people do when they want change when they are being treated unfairly he had peaceful riots instead. He did not believe in using violence to get what you want instead he used a philosophy from the famous Gandhi that the people called Gandhism. (An idea of nonviolent resistance, sometimes also called civil resistance. The two pillars of "Gandhism" were truth and non-violence.)
