On 25 November 1960, Patria, Minerva, María Teresa, and their driver, Rufino de la Cruz, were visiting María Teresa and Minerva's incarcerated husbands. On the way home, they were stopped by Trujillo's henchmen. The sisters and de la Cruz were separated, strangled and clubbed to death. The bodies were then gathered and put in their Jeep, which was run off the mountain road in an attempt to make their deaths look like an accident. The deaths of the sisters were yet so brutal a death that no other human being should ever experience. All of the sisters standing their ground even as they had been beaten down with no resort from the men. Patria dying after having a life that would be admired by most people, having multiple children and a husband. Patria had died being the last one to join the revolution which her sisters had joined with pride. Looking out of her brutal death and all of what she had done during this revolution the character of Patria is what I and many other should admire. After the experiences of losing her child which she had sought to bore, she still stood strong. She had lost faith and still stood strong to wake up the next morning later even becoming part of this revolution which the sisters had begun. As stated in the book, Patria had even saw her own child in the grave with insects harvesting on the bones that were left over from the child. Even after seeing this horrific scene Patria had kept her control, keeping her mother image. She had stood as a role model for the sisters whom were also brave. Patria had shown leadership traits from when she had talked to the sisters which had reactions that are similar to the way they would react to their own
