In the early years of the Renaissance the black plague had struck killing hundreds of thousands of people. During the middle of the renaissance there was a time of rebirth. This was a time where music, literature, and art began to get more popular in Italy in the middle ages. They would cherish their loved ones that had passed away for the horrendous virus. The Renaissance was such a big deal because at this time period it was their turning of events, they could start over and create a new beginning. At this time artists had many inspirations that helped them create sculptures and paintings of many different types. During the Renaissance art was a huge factor there were many artists that had become more popular during this time, like Pieter Bruegel. Pieter Bruegel was born in 1525 in Son en Breugel, Netherlands, Also known as ‘Peasant Bruegel’ was born into a family of artists for four generations. Pieter later settled down in Antwerp where he was said to be the ‘master of painters’. After visiting Italy he became inspired to paint landscapes. This piece was created in 1560, more aimed at the adults of the medieval century. He was representing the children and how they would act especially at play. There are children doing a variety of activities for example some are playing with a hoop that today would be known as hula hooping, while others are playing with barrels and playing on fences as if they were riding horses. Pieter paints as though the children are participating in outdoor activities for many blocks. He focuses on one point and has the picture fade out. This picture doesn’t just show all the children that are playing and having a good time, he also includes the bullies, or the kids giving others a hard time.
