The civil war was a conflict in the United States where 11 southern states seceded from the union because They believed that president Abraham Lincoln was going to end slavery and affect their state rights. They fought against each other and the result was that the union won. There was plenty of destruction in the southern states and that started the reconstruction period. The reconstruction in the United States did not end racial division because the blacks in sharecropping were treated as slaves, they were not treated as equals, they were beaten and killed, and segregation.
