How Did Rosa Parks Benefit Modern Society

Rosa Parks once said, "I would like to be remembered as a person who wanted to be free....so other people would also be free." This made everyone think that they can believe themselves and do what they want to do. Rosa Parks has positively benefitted modern society by drawing attention to the issue of racism and segregation and standing up for what she believes in to encourage others to fight for their rights.

Rosa Parks has significantly benefitted modern society by drawing attention to the issues of racism and segregation. First, for public buses the white citizens sat in the front and the black citizens sat in the back of the bus. They were strict on segregating blacks and whites from each other ("Rosa Parks"). This proves that it is segregation because they are separating races on buses and everywhere else likes schools and bathrooms. For example, Rosa Parks did not move from her seat for a white man on the bus (Bjornlund 6). Rosa is standing up for what she believes in and that is that she does not have to move just for a white person to have a seat on the bus. Next, Rosa Parks said, "but that isn't true. I was not tired physically...No, the only tired I was, was tired of giving in." ("Rosa Parks"). Rosa is saying that she did not move cause she was physically tired, it was because she was fed up with all the racism that was happening all over the place. Lastly, Parks became known as the "mother of the civil rights movement" ("American Civil"). That is saying just for standing up for what she wants to made people commit to the civil rights movement and stand up for Rosa Parks too.
