Samuel Maverick, a slaveholder from England, arrived with in Boston, Massachusetts in 1624, with two of his slaves, Tituba, who went to Salem, and Phillis Wheatley, who stayed in Boston, and is the first slaveholder in Massachusetts Colony.
Massachusetts Colony had become important in the early days of slavery in the colonies, because it was the first colony to enact a slave law, also the first slaves imported into this country
Directly from Africa was through Massachusetts in 1634.
Three and a half years later, the slave ship named Desire, brought the first shipment of slaves to the colonies from Barbados in exchange for Pequot Indians from New England. Also, Massachusetts Colony was the first to legalize slavery, when in 1641, Governor John
