Segregation has affected the lives of African Americans in many different ways. They have had many restrictions such as unequalled voting, transportation issues, and even improper education due to black only schools. Jim Crow laws were created to enforce racial segregation in the Southern United States. These laws started at the end of the Reconstruction period and lasted until 1965. They were designed to isolate African Americans and place in an inferior position compared to white people. On the other hand, starting in 1954, the Civil Rights Movement encompassessed freedom towards African Americans and had a goal to end racial segregation and discrimination. Without this movement, America wouldn't be the country that we are today.
