Angelo Alessandro drove military trucks and other vehicles (D.P.). He carried and transported many different supplies for soldiers fighting in action. Many times during battles, soldiers would run out of supplies and people like my uncle would have to bring them more. The Red Ball Express was created to make sure that the American soldiers would have their needed supplies as quickly as possible. The large convoy of trucks carried food to feed, medical supplies for injuries as well as guns and some other military weapons. People like Angelo had to get supplies to other infantries quickly to ensure healthy and prepared soldiers (Red Ball Express). Many famous battles were fought during World War II like the Battle of the Bulge. Angelo Alessandro was actually there during the duration of the battle. (P.A.). By the end of World War II, there were over sixty million deaths in the world. Unfortunately, Angelo and thousands of other soldiers were involved in many battles, leaving a terrible impact on the deaths in the war and in their lives. Omaha Beach and the Battle of the Bulge seemed to have been some of the main battles with significant impacts. Even though the Battle of the Bulge helped end the war, the death toll was quite grim. The Americans, British and Germans all suffered greatly. Around nineteen thousand United States and 200 British servicemen were killed. The United States of America lost 47,500 men to injuries and twenty three thousand ended up being captured or becoming missing. In addition, Germany lost over one hundred thousand soldiers from deaths, injuries and missing men. Losing so many Germans made it pretty much impossible to fight many more battles. (The Battle of the
