The constitution of the United States has a big effect on the world. The constitution is a document that sets out the laws, principles, organization, and processes of a government. In the 15th amendment it states that any state cannot deny according of the citizen’s race, color, or previous conditions. When there was slavery in the United States, the African Americans could not vote. The Articles of Confederation created a very loose alliance of 13 independent states. Under the Articles of Confederation, the United States became a union of states with a weak central government. As a plan of government, the Articles of Confederation had strengths. It left states free to make decisions for them. It prevented the federal government from gaining too much power. However, the Articles of Confederation had weaknesses as well. Compared to the states, Congress had very limited powers. Congress could not regulate trade and foreign countries. The goal for the constitutional convention is to revise the articles of confederation. The convention would prove historic because it did not revise the articles of confederation.
