Similar to the Yuan Empire’s strong leaders, the Ming began with leaders that had a vision in the transformation of China. There were rebellions and natural disasters that forced the fall of the Ming — a period of cold and dry climate, the economy was in shambles, people believed that the Ming court had lost the Mandate of Heaven, and the ruling court was ineffectual. Due to disastrous earthquakes, it was believed that approximately 800,000 people died. Additionally, great plagues also affected most of the people that lived in the Ming-controlled regions.
