The Industrial Revolution Could Only Start in the 18th Century Britain

There were some core factors why the the industrial revolution could only happen in 18th Century Britain. One of these resons was the agricultural advancement in the 18th century. Another was the abundance of coal. The industrial revolution could also only happen because of the supportive British government.

Agricultural advancement in 18th century meant that farm laborers lost their jobs and became unemployed. This made them go to cities to get work in mines & factories.

Now there was the necessary labor force but how will they power their great machines?

The abundance of coal gave a Britain a great source of power. It was this power that fueled the machines that would be built that allow greater mass production of goods.

Even with a labor force and blueprints someone still can not make great machines work without a good source of steam power and Britain had a lot of cheap coal unlike other countries like India and China. This allowed them to power their machines with steam and allowed them to get even more coal by pumping water out of coal mines as depicted in the photo below.

Coal mines required lots of laborers to mine the coal from the mines, this is one of the ways the labor force helped the industrial revolution.

Without lots of coal the great machines would not have been powered. These machines not being able to be powered would have meant that they would not have been able to mass produce goods. But the abundance of coal was not the only reason Britain was the first to make the industrial revolution
