The American Revolution is considered the greatest act of overthrowing a powerful government, resulting in the United States obtaining independence from the British. Over the course of 8 years of revolts, battles and skirmishes, the Patriots, of the 13 colonies, fight for their independence from Britain, the superpower of the 17th century. The Americans independence, from Britain, would not have been achieved if it was not for the crucial battles of Lexington and Concord, Bunker Hill, Saratoga, and Yorktown The years of built up tension between the 13 colonies and the British finally exploded on April 19, 1775 at the battle of Lexington and concord. On the night of April 18th Joseph Warren obtains intel from British High command hinting a British march from the arms cache at concord. In response, Warren dispatches two couriers, Paul Revere and William Dawes to alert the colonial militiamen and the revolutionary leaders John Hancock, and Samuel Adams. As the …show more content…

During this time, France was experiencing financial issues from the previous Imperial war and was a gamble for the French to join. The French were a crucial component in the overall success of the American revolution allowing the Americans to sustain the war. During the critical moment in the war, they provided supplies, financial support and combatants on the battlefield.
