The Soviet Union was one of the strongest, most powerful nations in history. They had an unstoppable army. They had enough nuclear weapons to destroy the Earth many times over. They was fear in the U.S. of the Soviets spreading communism. They also changed World War 2 by stopping the Germans and eventually taking Berlin. But they grew suspicious of the U.S. and fought the Cold War against them. They were… the Soviet Union. What was communism?
Communism is a form of government. It was very popular with workers in the early 1900s. As a result, In 1917, a revolution in Russia overthrew the Czar. From then on they were ruled by a Premier. This person had much of the power in the government. Everyone, makes the same amount. There is no personal property. Everything is owned by the government. It played a major role in world War 2 by stopping the German advance and eventually pushed them back. Furthermore, or after World War 2, the Soviet Union was a global superpower.
But it was eventually dissolved in the late 1900s. After World War 2, the Soviets took over and added them to the Soviet Union. Many countries fell to the Soviets like this.

The Soviet Union changed history for the worse and the better. They almost started a nuclear war by firing missiles at the U.S. from Cuba. But the U.S. held a naval blockade and demanded the Soviets remove the missiles. They obliged. The Soviet Union has been a very important country in the 20th century.
