Theodore Roosevelt I decided to choose the 26th president of the United States of America, because he was a person who truly love animals and wanted to find ways to make sure they were all safe, making him my favorite U.S president. Also, I looked up to him for his sheer determination as many important roles in history other than being president. He went through many hard moments from being a supporter to true leader that made America prosperous like many other presidents before him. Theodore Roosevelt was born on October 27 1858, in New York City. He was the second of 4 children, from Theodore Sr. and Martha Roosevelt. Volunteer Cavalry, leading a daring charge on San Juan Hill when the Spanish-American War broke out in 1898. During this time, he became a war hero after the end of the war. He then became the governor of New York and then became the vice-president of the United States working under President McKinley. As a vice president, he was strictly loyal to McKinley, as he fully made sure he was victorious for his second term election. However, after McKinley began his second term, McKinley was assassinated in 1901, making Roosevelt the President of the United States. This also made him the first president to be elected after gaining office due to the death of his predecessor. As president, he wanted to ensure that the government supported the lives of American citizens. In foreign policy, Roosevelt wanted to make the United States a global power by increasing its influence worldwide. This led him to secure the rights to build the Panama Canal, making it one of the greatest engineering feats during the late 1800’s and 1900. Believing peace between nations was a true solution, he used his position as President to help negotiate peace agreements between foreign nations. In the end, he suffered and died from cardiovascular disease, and is now buried in Sagamore Hill, Town of Oyster Bay.
