Theodore Roosevelt once said, “I am an American; free born and free bred, where I acknowledge no man as my superior, except for his own worth, or as my inferior, except for his own demerit.” This quote is stated by Roosevelt because he is trying to explain how nobody should ever be looked down on, and treated differently because of their looks, because everyone was born to be free and not to be a slave or be treated differently. Tom and Atticus loses the case. Tom gets shot while trying to escape jail. This relates to my quote because black people are majorly looked down on in this book causing Tom getting accused of something he didn’t even do. In the book Atticus says, “Scout” , said Atticus ,“nigger-lover is just one of those terms that don’t mean anything…” In this book a lot of people treat blacks horribly while Atticus is different where he loves to help and love anyone that is in need of it, the world needs more people like Atticus
