How Did World War 1 Contribute To War

As we look through history and time, we see how far we have advanced and improved, not just in technology, but also in communications and relations between countries. Through these advancements, the world has been able to avoid such disasters, such as WWI. WWI is something we look at as horrific, with so many deaths for something so little, and makes many people question why countries would fight over such little land, and lose so many of their people. WWI had many contributions leading up to the war, and the main causes, in my eyes, are imperialism, nationalism, and alliances between countries. Leading up to the war was a time known as the Age of Imperialism. Almost all of Europe was expanding overseas, setting up colonies, and taking over the land. The countries, at the time, thought they were “helping” the natives, causing them to continue sending people over. As the countries began to take over more land, Africa was almost completely taken over, all by separate countries, and different colonies. There were many contributions to the war, but I see imperialism, nationalism and alliances being the biggest, and main contributions to war. The countries involved in the war all believed they were the best, the strongest, and they were willing to prove that through war, helping lead the way to WWI. Along with their Nationalism, the countries were expanding overseas and causing little wars throughout the imperialist countries, essentially leading many countries to dislike one another. And finally, the countries were making alliances, causing the war to become larger, and have more of the World involved in the war.
