How did WW2 fundamentally change women's role in America?
As many men went to war fighting, jobs and other predominantly male dominated job were left vacant so employers wanted to fill assembly line and other jobs with women. Many women started to working in fields outside the home and were not associated with women, such as streetcar drivers, even pilots.
