Napoleon and Snowball used propaganda techniques to try to get on top. Snowball and Napoleon, are the most intelligent animals on the farm are in a "battle" to control the direction that Animal Farm will take. Both of them choose different tactics during the fight, one which Napoleon will ultimately win. Napoleon’s tactic of preference was to work behind the scenes to build his power through manipulation and deal-making, while Snowball devotes himself to winning popular support through his ideas, passionate speeches, and success in debates with his opponent. Snowball seems to work within the political system, while Napoleon willingly circumvents it. He was not good at getting the animals on his side with his talk. After running Snowball out of the farm with the bloodhounds he had trained as they were puppies and by lying to the animals when he calls snowball a “traitor”, he establishes himself as the leader. He uses Squealer to speak on his behalf and mislead the animals into believing that everything Snowball did was harmful and all he wanted was to bring back Mr. Jones and take over. Squealer was also used to tell great tales about Napoleon. Napoleon's autocratic style of leadership, with lies and tales leading the show, leaves the animals confused. However, they carry on with their work more ardently than ever. He is a narcissist who makes the animals work mainly for his own benefit.Napoleon is more of a demanding, overpowering pig who always gets what he wants like a child throwing a tantrum. He gets influenced easily and always puts himself first. He believes that he is Animal Farm's destined leader and praises himself for all the things that he has done for the animals. He doesn't care much for the rules when it comes to him playing the game he is always switching it up to benefit
