How Do We See Oneself After Colleg College

It seems like college has been the big question since the beginning of time, or maybe just since high school. As we approach a new school year, new ideas and opinions about college will emerge. Those rock solid decisions about where we plan on going might have to be rerouted, as we start calculating the costs and not to mention the logistics of one’s academics. Due dates, essays, scholarships, and applications for colleges seem to fill up our already overwhelmed schedules. For those who are interested in ivy leagues, the pressure is intensified with limited slots and not to mention limited time. Everyone starts off my trying to succeed in high school to get where we are right now, senior year. Well the question has become, where do we see ourselves after high school? Many will respond with college, job, or enlistment; and if they are really prepared they might even tell you their major. What I want to know is “How prepared are we for this transition?” Schooling has been such a big part of our lives, whether we know it or not, an average student spends about 15,120 hours at school from K-12th grade; this does not include any extracurricular activities or sports. …show more content…
Many hopeful students walk into college undecided and leave with their dream job, while others change their majors more than they can remember; which shows us that we might not know ourselves as well as we think. My goal after high school might not be what I end up doing in twenty years, and no one will know until the time comes. Meaning I can tell you, “I want to major in business administration at UNC- Chapel Hill”, but that just seems hollow. It is a phrase I have repeated many times, because I have not explored enough to give you a better answer.
