How Does 9/11 Affect Our Society

If someone asked a vast majority of people a generalized question about how people and/or events from the Millennial Generation have affected our society today, there would be a variety of answers. However, according to Roibín Ó hÉochaidh with Berkely News, when two planes crashed into the World Trade Center in New York on September 9, 2001, the society in which we live was affected immensely. (hÉochaidh, 2011) Roibín Ó hÉochaidh stated, “Even more than Pearl Harbor or the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, the 9/11 attacks stand alone as a seminal moment in the modern history of the United States, one that exerted the most profound effects on the politics, policies, and psychology of America and its citizens.” As a result of the 9/11 attacks, the government, defense and security, and tourism changed in America’s society. (Villemez, 2011)
