How Does Alexander Deserve The Title The Great

In history, there are lots of people with the title “the Great”. The chosen “the Great”s earned their title by doing something, well, great, that had a major impact on not just our society, but societies all around the globe. An extremely popular “the Great” is none other than Alexander the Great. He’s known for conquering tons of cities and territories, as well as naming those conquered cities and territories after him. Even though he had many military successes, did Macedonian King Alexander deserve the title “the Great”? Yes, he does. Not only did he have many battle-wins under his belt, but he also created a very successful city, had both determination to win and enough mercy to spare those who did nothing, and finally, not only did he create history, but also helped preserve it.

Not only did he have the determination and skill to conquer multitudes of people, but he also had mercy and compassion enough to let innocent people go. He spared the life of a Theban woman because he liked the driven fire in her, as well as let lots of men, women, and children free in many cities after he had beaten the city’s army in battle. It takes more than just advanced military techniques to be great, and ALexander the Great possessed all characteristics of that title.
