How Does Edward Bloor Use Gothic Elements

In the book Tangerine by Edward Bloor gothic literature is prevalent throughout the book. Gothic literature is a piece of literature that has elements that are frightening. For example the literature has elements of death, horror, and other frightening elements. These elements can come from the atmosphere, a character's interaction with others and many other ways. I believe gothic literature is a book that is written in a frightening matter. Also I believe throughout the book there are clues to the plot lines. In the end of the book the clues make sense. Tangerine is an example of Gothic literature primarily because the way it is written. Edward Bloor does an amazing job to implementing gothic literature throughout the book. Bloor was able to influence the book greatly by adding these elements. Bloor used a variety of Gothic elements to impact the plot. For example on page 12 the author writes “I woke up in the dark to the sound of an explosion”. This line keeps the at a cliff hanger and makes the reader read on. Bloor added the gothic elements to also keep the reader reading. I strongly believe he used gothic elements very well in the novel. I say this because he was able to influence the plot every time he used a gothic element. This shows the level of Bloor’s usage of gothic elements. Also the Gothic elements changed the theme of the novel. He was able to make the novel more interesting and more enjoyable by adding gothic elements. Furthermore he was able to use the gothic elements to force the reader to read on. only this the gothic elements helped him also in developing the novel. He was able to do more with the plot and theme and other parts of the book by using gothic elements. Concludingly I believe Bloor was able to influence the novel in all aspects by using gothic elements very
