How Does Elie Wiesel Change Throughout The Novel

In the novel “Night” by Elie Wiesel the protagonist changes throughout the course of the novel because he is challenged with a very catastrophic situation. Readers can determine these changes through the character’s thoughts, his actions by himself and his actions with his father. Eliezer had witnessed nothing but death and sorrow during his days at the camp. The things he had saw made him question his faith in God. When Eliezer was shipped to the concentration camp and separated from his mother and sister and left with only his father. He and his father had to look out for each other. Eliezer’s goal was not to lose his father and end up alone. Eliezer seen children being burned, elders being burned, and all other types of death surrounding him every day. Eliezer couldn’t understand why his God would allow all these terrible things to go on which lead Eliezer to begin questioning his faith. Later on in the story Eliezer feels he has lost his identity because they guards had shaved his head and tattooed a number on his skin. He felt as if he was no longer Eliezer who was a fifteen year old boy in school, but an eighteen year old prisoner fighting to stay alive with a new name which was A-7713. …show more content…
They were about to go take a shower, but there were so many other people they had to wait. So while waiting Eliezer’s father wanted to sit down and get some sleep but Eliezer wasn’t going to allow that to happen because normally when people fell asleep it was then followed by death and Eliezer didn’t want his father to die because he didn’t want to feel alone. Later that night when Eliezer was laying in his bunk he had thought about his father falling trying asleep in the snow and had then wished his father would go on and pass so that he could just focus on himself trying to survive. He thinks back to how the little boy left his dad behind and then Eliezer then feels bad because of how selfish he was
