How Does Equality 7-2521 Build A Free Society

“If I was meant to be controlled I would, I would have come with a remote” (unknown) In the dystopian story Anthem by Ayn Rand the main character Equality 7-2521 lives in a not so great society where being individual is bad and people are labeled by numbers.
The process of building a collective society in Anthem requires the removal or individuality but that has been broken by Equality 7-2521.
Anthem’s society is all about being equal and following the law. Equality is not like the others in his society for many reasons. The government and other others in his society say he’s evil. Equality 7-2521’s teachers says to him “There is evil in your bones, Equality 7-2521 your body has grown beyond the bodies of your brothers” (Rand, 18). He’s using his brain more and realizing how smart he is and soon he discovered something amazing. Equality has been secretly breaking the law by being alone in a tunnel while in the tunnel equality soon discovered the light bulb. He was messing around with wires and a dead frog and discovered electricity which could change the world he lives in now. When Equality realizes what he has discovered he starts to think what this light is able to do. “We can lay our tunnel and City, in all the cities of the world with nothing save metal and wires. We can give our brothers a new light, cleaner and brighter than any they have ever known" (Rand, 60). He knows he has created a light so amazing it's going to be able to do many things. Equality is using his brain very hard and he doesn't even know it and he thinks no one can stop him. Equality has made something that can change the world and wants to show it to the house of the scholars to approve but gets denied
