ABSTRACT

In this article, firstly, globalization is discussed in its different aspects; secondly recent trends in globalization of tourism are examined and lastly how Turkish tourism is affected by globalization is focused from a geographical perspective.

INTRODUCTION
The world today, witnesses important changes which will shape 21st century in many areas including economy, demography, and technology and have global dimensions. Tourism is one of the economic sectors affected dramatically by globalization as well.
Turkey is deeply influenced by globalization process as a result of its strategically important geographical location and developing socioeconomic infrastructure and Turkish tourism is also “globalizing”. In recent years, Turkey has changed into a striking destination in international tourism movements thanks to its various natural attractions and cultural diversity and increasing quality of tourism facilities

REVIEW OF LITERATURE
The impact of globalization differs from industry to industry. The aim of this study is to research the impact of globalization on SMEs in the tourism industry. Globalization and global tourism can be seen as two interconnected elements. This research covers the global tourism industry and takes a particular interest in SMEs.

METHODOLOGY
This chapter includes the overall research design in which metaphors were used to identify and analyze effect of globalization on tourism in terms of SMEs and MNCs in Turkey.
Interview: We studied with Yekta Bıçkın in İzmir. The aim of the research was to study examine how globalization affect the SMEs bussines in the long run.
Survey: It was given to 35 people and half of this number from Bilkent University and the rest of it from public areas.
These participants were selected randomly.They have different ages, nationality, life standards and occupations.

RESULTS
According to survey questions and answers that are collected from participants,

There

are 25 participants which are interested in tourism industry and 11 not.

Majority of participants support that tourism has a

tremendous impact on economy of countries with a number of 25 participants, with a 70 percentage of all participants.
Almost all participants(83%) observe that globalization has

a significant impact on tourism.
