How Does Guy Montag Change In Fahrenheit 451

Ray Bradbury shows us through his novel Fahrenheit 451 a society that is very fast passed and they are all like one another. Bradbury wrote the novel after World War II when the nation was trying to rebuild what they had lost. As he is watching the nation, Bradbury wonders that since people use paper as ammunition if books will become scarce and illegal. The citizens of Fahrenheit 451’s society is not worried about getting in trouble. If they overdose there are people there to come and pump out their chests, it is like a second nature to them that they could die if those people do not show up. Guy Montag is a firefighter he does not fight fires he actually sets books on fire. As the book progresses he starts reading them which gets him into a lot of trouble. He is starting to learn what the past use to be like. He gets help from Faber who has also read books. Bradbury used Montag to show us how many have thoughts that change when you learn more and become more aware. Guy Montag is introduced as a normal person in society who is against books. As a firefighter, he sets the books on fire. When he meets one person unparticular that is not willing to give up her books and they set her on fire along with her books. She is writing about how books are being ripped up and used for ammunition. She is watching the war unfold and wants to write about what is happening. Hilda says “Yet give us, they still cry, give us books” (Doolittle 9.9-10). Even though people are going around and gathering as many books as they can so they can have bullets. There are still people who care about the books. The author thinks that books are cherished and some people were hurt when they burned the books but, in Fahrenheit 451 it was more casual to burn the books. They did not make it as big of a deal in Fahrenheit 451 to ruin the book as they did in The Walls Do Not
