Lord Capulet is planning a wedding for her and Paris without Juliet’s consent. Lord Capulet doesn’t know that Juliet is in love and married to Romeo. Lord Capulet plans the wedding, “A’ Thursday let it be- a’ Thursday, tell her,/ She shall be married to this noble earl,”(III. iv. 20-21). Lord Capulet plans a wedding for Paris and Juliet without her approval. He schedules the wedding for that Thursday. Once Juliet realizes that she has to marry Paris, she goes to visit Friar Lawrence and they make a plan to get Juliet to be with Romeo without having her marry Paris. Friar’s plan is to have Juliet take the sleeping potion on Wednesday night and the potion will make her appear dead for 42 hours. She will then be laid in the Capulet’s tomb where Romeo will soon be there when she wakes up. Lord Capulet pushes the wedding up one day, “Send for the County.
