Imagine living in a world of injustice. In Harper Lee’s book, To Kill A Mockingbird, she looks into the issues of injustice and innocence using the mockingbird symbol. The book is set in the 1930s, when prejudice was a big deal. It shows injustice to the most innocent people who are wrongfully accused. Tom Robinson is unlawfully put on trial for the accused raped of Mayella Ewell. Boo Radley is victimized by the Maycomb community because of the rumors the town created about him. Atticus Finch is ridiculed by the town for defending Tom Robinson, even though Tom is innocent. Tom, Boo, and Atticus are the three people in To Kill A Mockingbird that represent the mockingbird symbol. Tom Robinson is the main reference of mockingbird symbol. Despite him being kind and helpful he is tried for the accused rape of Mayella and found guilty, even after Atticus proved that he was innocent. He was convicted simply by the color of his skin. He is the last discovered as the mockingbird. Lee illustrates the point of injustice in Maycomb in the 1930s, where rumors of Boo’s life determine who he is, rather than seeing how kind and generrous he is. At the end of the book, Scout comes to realize that blameing Boo for Bob’s death would be” sort of like shootin’ a mockingbird.” Sending Boo to jail for doing the right thing would be like killing a mockingbird. Lee shos that altough there are rumors about Boo being a bad person,hes actually a really goo person.”Summer and he watched his children’s heart break. Autumn and Boo’s children needed im again.”(Pg.279). Boo left gifts for Jem and Scout and also covered Scout with a blanket the night Miss Maudies house caught on fire.Boo saved Jem and Scout from Bob Ewell when he tried to kill them. Boo Radley is a good example of the mockingbird
