How Does Mayella Obtain Power In To Kill A Mockingbird

Power is when someone is over you, they can do more without getting into any trouble and Mayella thinks that she has power in ways others don't. And the plot of the book, To Kill a Mockingbird, is that the white people think the have more power over the black people, but there is different parts that play into the the meaning power. LIke for Mayella, because of her class and gender she lacks power, but it’s her race that makes her powerful.

A quote from Doc C is that Mr. Gilmer Said “ Are you being impudent to me, boy?” to a black man and no one cares because of their race. To help explain this here’s a quote from Doc D, “Now don’t you be so confident, Mr.Jem, i ain’t ever seen no jury decide in favor of a colored man over a white man.” This is the reason why Mayella has power because of her race. To add on another quote From Doc E, when tom robinson said “ i feel sorry for her…” this made it seen like he’s saying he’s better than her an he’s black, she’s white.
