How Does Montresor Get Revenge In The Cast Of Amontillado

What does one think of when one hears the word revenge? Well Montresor thought of it as death in the story of the “The Cast of Amontillado.” Written by Edgar Allan Poe which is a great story about how Montresor sets out to seek revenge on Fortunato during the carnival. He seeks this revenge by bringing him in to his catacombs for what Fortunato thinks is going to be a wine tasting, but too drunk to realize that he is being brought to his death. Montresor has been planning for a very long time by bringing him into the catacombs and chains Fortunato to a granite wall were he gets buried alive were he successfully gets his revenge.
The first characteristic is his want for revenge because of what Fortunato had done to him in the past. Revenge doesn’t come easy it takes time and that’s what Montresor did, he planned out is revenge for a very long time. “THE thousand injuries of Fortunato I had borne as I best could, but when he ventured upon insult, I vowed revenge” (Poe 1).
