Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, also known as PTSD, is a serious condition affecting a lot of soldiers in our country due to what they have witnessed while in combat. This condition has been around for a long time for our soldiers, but didn’t start to become more public until after the Iraqi war of 2003. Soldiers serving in Iraq and Afghanistan returning home came back with sleep disorders and anger management problems due to the fact that they also came back with the horrors they saw in the combat zones they served in. Adam Norman is one of these veterans that has PTSD he also suffers from other chronic conditions in which were due to his service in the military that started in 2003. His division, which was the 3rd Infantry Division, was one of the first that served in Iraq during the Iraq War. As Adam sits in his computer chair he begins to tell me his duties “My specific duties included assisting the dentist in dental procedures of cleaning teeth, doing fillings, periodontal work and even served as backup medic.” Adam served as a dental assistant in the 203rd forward support battalion which was all the support units for the infantry and artillery units in the 3rd brigade. After passing us, they were ambushed about two miles ahead of us. Once we made it to their position, there were over 20 dead bodies in blown up cars, lying on the ground, and in water. We continued into Baghdad we set up in an old tank manufacturing complex that had 30ft walls around it, since we had so many support vehicles and we were a medical unit it was a great spot to set up. Soon after, we had a 16 year old girl come in with her father after an Iraqi soldier butt stroked her to the face breaking her jaw in several places.
