Does school dress code shame teenage girls? Everyday girls are sent to the principal’s office because their outfits are written off as inappropriate when they are fully clothed. Some girls who are pulled out of class are given a detention or are sent home and don’t get to sit through the rest of their class to be educated. Schools think that this is giving teenage boys a “distraction free” education but really they are not giving girls the education they need. Most times on a teenage girl, it’s not a bad clothing item. There are even more reports such as Being suspended for wearing an Einstein anti-war quote on a shirt, also a student being told that they needed to turn their Michigan football shirt inside out so it didn’t offend anybody.

In schools today we should be teaching that we need to accept difference in our bodies between male and female and understand that everybody has different taste in clothing. A female’s education is just as important as a male teenage boy. She should not be taken out of class because of a t-shirt or leggings that a boy might get distracted by. In some cases it is

Some have a free dress and some schools have uniforms. It all varies on what type of school it is. Some schools are stricter in keeping their students focused on what they’re learning and not how they are dressed. Along with different dress codes schools also have different punishment systems for the students who break dress code rules and school rules. Some schools have detention while some schools don’t have detention and the have suspension. Thousands of students agree that dress code is more for girls than it is for boys. Girls also agree that they are punished disproportionately. Across the United States many of these schools have dress codes that outline gender specific
