We find that Curley's father owns the ranch that George and Lennie will work at (25). We also learn that Curley is a past boxer, and is egar to start trouble with his short temper (25,26). Candy explains that Curley’s wife has got “...the eye”(28), and describes her as a “tart“ (28)

What do their actions tell you about each of their characters? As George says, “Married two weeks and got the eye? Maybe that’s why Curley’s pants are full of ants.”(28). This quote gives reason to Curley’s strange interactions with the boys, and his protectivity over his wife. I would describe them as unsteady, as they can’t trust each other.

Re-read Steinbeck's description of Slim. What does this description tell you about Slim's character? Is he a man to be trusted and looked up to?
Slim seems to be a very attractive man, as Steinbeck talks about how he is tall, and how he has his long damp black hair. He seems to be the alpha of the group, as Steinbeck says, “There was a gravity in his manner and a quiet so profound that all talk stopped when he spoke. His authority was so great that his word was taken on any subject, be it politics or love.” (33).

What is Lennie eagerly talking about toward the end of the chapter? Lennie was thinking about having his own puppy, as Slim’s dog just had a litter. George told Lennie that he would talk to Slim, and discuss if Lennie could have one of the
