Reflecting Upon The Grapes of Wrath
John Steinbeck wrote, “I believe a strong woman may be stronger than a man, particularly if she happens to have love in her heart. I guess a loving woman is indestructible.” This is my favorite John Steinbeck quote. John Steinbeck is known for creating novels that reflect palpable feelings of struggle. Steinbeck paints a picture so vivid and so exquisitely that the unoriginal would have an arduous time understanding.
The Grapes of Wrath is a true masterpiece because it gives a perilous description of what the Great Depression looked like, the characters are tenacious in holding onto life, and it demonstrates valuable lessons. Furthermore, I would recommend this book to anyone. As a result of faulty history

As Robert Penn Warren once said, “History cannot give us a program for the future, but it can give us a fuller understanding of ourselves, and of our common humanity, so that we can better face the future.” The Great Depression taught us what it takes to get out of a stock market crash and a land consuming drought. America wouldn’t be America if it weren’t for The Great
Depression.
The next notable part about The Grapes of Wrath are the characters. Thinking back on the story, I know that I would have never been able to survive during the drought. The main character, Tom Joad, was determined to improve the world around him and live a better life after prison. The mother, Ma Joad, was persistent, graceful, and full of dignity. She did her best to make the journey to California less exasperating.
Pa Joad, his mind capsized by the fact that his farm was gone, tried to remain strong and hopeful for a successful future. Furthermore, Rose of Sharon and Jim Casey were necessary assets to the journey. Without them, the Joads may not have survived.
Overall, The Grapes of Wrath demonstrates a very influential message: refuse to lose hope. Throughout the entire story, a shining example of tenacity was present.
