The play "Watsons go to Birmingham" and the article "Susan B Anthony Dares to Vote" have the same theme. They both have to overcome obstacles as their theme. Susan B Anthony Is trying to make women have equal rights. And the Watsons want to go march with their cousins. But these passages are different because the characters take different risks. Susan B Anthony went all over the country trying to get women rights. She was in court and could have been there more. Even though she could have been hurt, jailed, or even embarrassed, she worked for her goal until she died. But the Watsons only stay in Birmingham. They talk about going on marches. One reason this is the theme is that she went to court and could have gone to court many times. She was in court because she dressed like a man and demanded to vote. She got arrested and almost had to pay $100 in fines. But the judge just dropped the case. She was about to pay 100 dollars for trying to vote. She was overcoming the obstacle of being a woman that she almost went to jail! She was really trying to help. Another reason that she was overcoming obstacles is that she immediately started trying to get everyone equal rights. Right away she tried to get slaves freed. Then she tried for women's rights. She never gave up either. It took 100 years after she was born for her dreams could come true. It took a while, but it did finally happen. My last reason why "Susan B Anthony Dares to Vote. " theme is overcoming obstacles is that she tried so hard to get her rights. She could've been hurt, jailed or even been killed because she was trying to get equal rights. All she wanted was to win rights for everyone. She died before she could get her goal. it took 14 years after she died to get women rights. She could not have tried any harder, but she got what she wanted. She may have been dead, but she got what she
