Tetrahymena responds to the changes in salt concentration differently. Sometimes the Tetrahymena is small or big and slow or fast. The rate of vacuole concentration is affected because at some concentration the Tetrahymena blinks more and others it's lower. The lower salt concentration, the faster they blink. If a different substance is added to fresh water then the Tetrahymena will blink different times in different environment and vary in size. For example, the Tetrahymena in 50 mM NaCl concentration, the cells were really small, but were super fast. They were also blinking at a normal rate.
