Over many years, many factors influence the American Dream, bringing into fruition its currently horrible state. When this nation was first established, the American Dream was nothing more than the desire to practice religion freely. Over the years, this desire to achieve a goal has been warped. The American Dream has changed... but not for the better. Personal agendas, material desires, and segregation continue to pollute the American Dream on a daily basis. In 1776, the population had the shared desire to become free of King George's third rule. Rich families, stable boys, and everyone in between shared this yearning. Nowadays, the American people all have different goals. For one person, this may be an aspiration to own a multi-billion dollar company, and they won't be satisfied until they achieve this. This backwards idea has been and always will be a problem in society because of a select few who can't accept the fact that ethnicity or cultural differences don't change the fact that we are all human. A couple hundred years ago, African Americans were used as slaves, and as slaves, they were denied the American Dream. There were not any chances for them to move up the social latter or any true possibilities for success. Due to the white oppression which slaves received all those years ago, it wasn't easy to achieve much at all, especially anything which could be coined as the American Dream. Unfortunately, this is still true in today's society, take Donald Trump as an example. He wants to deport thousands of Hispanics which would deprive them of their American Dream. It doesn't matter what goals and aspirations they had in mind because they will never have the chance to attempt it due to
