In the novel, To Kill A Mockingbird, by Harper Lee Atticus appears to be a wise, honorable and a responsible man. Atticus Finch is known by everyone in Maycomb county because of Simon Finch’s industry, Atticus's brother. Atticus was related by blood or marriage to nearly every family in town. Everyone respected him due to the things he has done and they’re based on fairness. Everything happened during great depression.
Atticus was someone everyone looked up to because he was like a leader or in other words wise. He wants the best for Scout and Jem therefore he gives advice and prevents them from going on a bad path or being ignorant. By him being the same person in public as he is at home, Atticus teaches Scout and Jem the importance of living

He wants his children to be able to live moral lives by teaching them how to live well. Atticus tells his children to never kill a mockingbird. Maudie explains that mockingbirds offer joy in their music to everyone and never cause any harm. This sets an example for the children to care about others who can't protect themselves and never bring harm to others who care to be care for. Atticus is not only responsible for his actions but for his children as well. Atticus was being a good example to his kids by showing appreciation towards a mean man, Bob Ewell. When Bob Ewell spit in his face, Atticus walks away without saying anything. He tells Jem “Jem, see if you can stand in Bob Ewell’s shoes a minute. I destroyed his last shred of credibility at that trial, if he had any to begin with. The man had to have some kind of comeback, his kind always does. So if spitting in my face and threatening me saved Mayella Ewell one extra beating, that’s something I’ll gladly take." (Lee 218). Atticus showed comprehension towards Bob Ewell, and his kids. Atticus showed a lot of dignity by resisting any compassion he could have made. He taught his son to care for others, no matter how disrespectful they
